An out of Africa feel in the wilds of Córdoba yet only 40 minutes drive from the city. La Dehesa Experiences is certainly a different stay. A stilted chestnut and pine framed wooden cabin with canvas roof sitting within a private Unesco reserve in the Sierra Morena mountain range. This is glamping with a capital G. Each pad (6 cabins and 6 glass pods) has its own on deck pool – not that we used it at the end of October, sun loungers, sofas, dining area, lounge with TV.

La Dehesa Experiences is real getaway escape – you will relax. There is no bar or restaurant here just peace, views and wildlife. Dinner can be ordered in and is delivered to your door by golf buggy, breakfast comes the same way, your own loaded buffet tray. If you don´t want to order dinner there´s an abundance of local produce and wines to help yourself to and tick off what you have consumed on the price list, which is also the dinner menu (which you can order by WhatsApp.)

Cars are parked outside the ´cabin area´ and an electric buggy comes to collect you and your bags and drives you to your cabin and returns you to your car when the times comes to leave.
Relax on the outside sofas and watch the sun go down, listen to the rustling around you and see the stars begin to appear – maybe more than you´ve ever seen before in the Starlight Reserve. Watch your dinner approaching by lights and hardly any noise. Dine alfresco or indoors and breathe in the silence.

Be prepared to wear a mask or wake up early as there are no curtains here – one of the joys of being in the middle of nowhere – and the reason I got to watch a woodpecker on a holm oak tree while still lying in bed.

Sold? I´d happily go back.
