Set amongst pine trees, away from it all, Cortijo de Ramon is a gorgeous retreat in the heart of Spain’s largest Natural Park. Peace reigns here. Red squirrels leap from tree to tree. It’s impossible not to relax and inhale the pure mountain air. This is a beautiful spot just to relax or explore the area of Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park in Jaén province.

Cortijo de Ramon is lovingle filled with lots of homely touches, quirky articles and ancient implements, some of which have you guessing at their use. The house oozes history and warmth. It is comfortable, charming and right up my street, a real country retreat to escape to.

The numerous tall trees surrounding Cortijo de Ramon provide welcome shade in the summer and never lets you forget the privilege of being in the midst of unspoiled nature. The silence is broken only by the twittering of birds and the clucking of hens that provide your breakfast eggs.

The large cortijo has eight bedrooms and each one of them is beautifully and individually decorated with local products, finds and wares from olive wood bedside tables to a bottle of water and wine in your room.

If mountain escapes are your thing, this is a perfect spot and one we´d happily return to.
