Cortijo del Arte

Charm and history merge at the rural Cortijo del Arte. This ancient Arab dairy farm has been converted into a charming and relaxing rural hotel, it also has an interesting muncipal museum on site.

Many of the 18 rooms are situated around the ancient grazing yard with the feeding troughs still in place. This was our room location on the last weekend in February and it was so peaceful. Countryside silence reigned with not very many visitors at that time of year.

Other rooms, mainly the duplex, with sitting areas out front, face the grassy pool area with recliners  and the countryside with sitting areas and a backdrop of mountains.

There are lots of homely, outdoor-foliage covered areas for warm weather functions and outdoor dining and indoor bar and restaurant for colder climes. On my visit it was indoor restaurant dining. It’s always a great start when the owner is a foodie. The menu is extensive and local, the food excellent. Whether it’s tapas in the bar or dining in the dining room if you are staying here you should eat here. The restaurant is open to the public too.

Dogs are welcome at Cortijo del Arte. There’s lots of space on site, tons of parking and access to the countryside or down to the river. Rural, rustic and lots of outside space it’s a great base for exploring the area and royally relaxing.
