This ancient store house has been wonderfully restored to provide a charming retreat – Hotel Rural Casa Peleyón, which is more like a B&B really, has a fine host and the best breakfast ever.

With decades-long background they are always improving the guests experience where possible, the website says
´We have perfected every detail to provide an unforgettable experience.´
I find it hard to disagree.

The hostess clearly loves her job and the welcome becomes a tour of the house and lounge which was once where an estuary boat was stored (and where the sail could be dried.) A gorgeous, wonky wooden beamed roof, now closed in with windows, radiators and fireplace for winter.

An amazingly, enormous buffet breakfast with home-baked cakes, croissants, local cheeses, fresh juice (squeezed to order) – you name it – it was there and lots of lovely touches – tables laid with white linen cloths and gorgous well-loved tables and chairs.

No other meals are served but there is a kitchen with tea and coffee facilities, fridge, microwave etc. All you need if you don´t feel like being out late. We explored Figures and Castropol bought bread, cheese, jamon and wine and went back to Casa Peleyón for an early night before our too-early flight in the morning.

An attentive hostess and very comfortable stay. The lounge, bedroom, large bathroom, furnishings – everything was just very, very good on our mid March overnight stay. We would definitely go back in warmer climes.
