Cliff-top Cuenca, cobbles, steps and dizzing drops

La Ciudad Encantada

Cuenca, a town that´s been on my radar for a long time. Cliff-top dwellings, hanging houses and colourfully painted 5, 6 and 7 storey houses. I wasn´t disappointed. A lot of walking, and stepping back from the edges but mainly I coped pretty well with all those terrifying descents.

Our bedroom had a tiny balcony and a huge drop down to the bottom of the ravine. We spotted a metal bridge connecting two sides of the ravine and of course my husband wanted to cross. So we did.

I´ve now added the very ancient, Posada de San Jose where we stayed for our two nights in this most magical old city of Cuenca. Full of charm, the installations a bit passed their best, the towels more of an exfoliation than fluff. Would I stay there again – yes!
